How to eat organic on a budget (without losing your mind)
It can be done - here's my take.
Hi there,
Welcome to The Life Larder! This weekly newsletter serves up a bite-sized menu of stories and ideas about making food that’s not only delicious but also healthy and sustainable.
Each issue is packed with inspiring articles, flavourful ideas, and voices from across the vibrant food world. Think of me as your friendly guide, helping you create meals that nourish your body, delight your taste buds, and care for our planet. Treat this newsletter like a personal larder—always stocked with something you’ll love.
I believe that the food we put in our bodies is the cornerstone of our health. If we put good in, we get good out. This goes soil deep - if the earth our food is grown in is healthy, it can give us the most nutritious food (we’re seeing more and more studies to back this up now too - specifically higher phytonutrient levels in organic foods). This is why I wanted to talk specifically about organic this week; but how we can do it in a way that works for our bank balances as well as our bodies.

How to Eat Organic on a Budget (Without Losing Your Mind)
Simple ideas to eat better without breaking the bank.
Farmer’s market goodies.
Let’s be honest—eating organic can feel like a luxury. The price difference between an intensively farmed carrot and its organic cousin is enough to make anyone hesitate, especially as our weekly shops have crept up and up over the past few years. But if you’re trying to be more mindful about what you’re putting into your body, organic food can be a valuable choice.
Here’s how to go organic on a budget.

Beetroot, Coconut & Mint Dip
An easy peasy dip that doubles up as a great spread on toast.
Earthy seasonal superstar beetroot takes centre stage here. Beets can support circulation and heart health, whilst mint is super helpful for digestion. Together with coconut yoghurt this is a cooling, hearty dip/spread that’s perfect with crudites or to turn your poached eggs on sourdough fancy.
